Control location sharing across businesses on mobile
Review the master sharing switch, each business’s availability and hours, phone permissions and current sharing status.
Before you start
Use your own account on a supported installed app. Location sharing is optional and separate from viewing a map, managing stock locations or being assigned a job. Check every business listed, the phone’s permission settings and the current plan and role gates. A map pin is not an approved timesheet or proof that work occurred.
Plan eligibility, business features, permissions and device support still apply. Reading a guide does not grant access.
Step by step
- Open Locations where available, then Location sharing. The hub’s Job sites map, Warehouses & vans map, Inventory locations, Crew and Emergency dispatch entries have separate permissions; they are not different names for the sharing switch.
- Read Location sharing (all companies). This is the master switch, not a setting for only the business currently open. To enable it, read the explanation, choose whether to continue and respond to the phone’s location and physical-activity permission prompts.
- Check the result after enabling. If the app cannot start tracking or the build does not support it, follow the displayed guidance instead of assuming the switch proves a live server position. Background sharing may need the phone’s Always location permission.
- Review each company card. Its sharing switch controls your Available now setting for that company. Expand its schedule settings when offered and review Schedule, selected days and SHARING HOURS. Changes save through these controls; reopen the screen while connected to check the server state.
- Read the combination of switches: Available now can allow sharing outside scheduled hours; Schedule off leaves availability under manual control rather than automatically following the saved hours. Leave and organisation restrictions still apply. Check each card’s status, not only the master’s colour.
- On Android, Keep sharing when the app is closed opens the relevant battery settings. Review the system choice deliberately. Device support, permissions, battery restrictions and connectivity can still prevent updates; allowing background activity does not guarantee a continuously fresh pin.
- To stop sharing from this phone, turn off Location sharing (all companies). Reopen the screen and check the result, particularly after a connection error. Review system location permission as well if you need an immediate device-level restriction while investigating uncertain server state.
Worked example
A worker belongs to two businesses. They check both cards, turn off a manual availability override and review the intended weekday hours. They verify the status after reconnecting rather than assuming the currently selected business is the only one affected.
This is an illustrative scenario, not a customer testimonial.
Check the result
Check the master, each business card and phone permission settings while connected. Where authorised, inspect the crew map’s last-seen time and accuracy. A cached pin or Sharing now label alone does not prove a new position has reached the server.
Limits and troubleshooting
- If the screen says sharing is unavailable in this build, or the system refuses permission, follow the app and phone settings guidance. Do not use a browser screenshot or an emulator example as evidence that background tracking works on your device.
- A missing pin can reflect the master, company availability, sharing hours, leave, organisation pause, device permission, battery settings or signal. Do not change another worker’s account or assume lack of a pin means absence from the job.
- Changes can appear locally before a server update succeeds. Reopen and refresh after uncertain replies; avoid repeatedly toggling settings just to obtain a green indicator. Older builds may show a simpler single-business schedule.
- Sharing with a business is distinct from a customer’s on-my-way tracking link. Check that job’s explicit action and link state separately; location sharing does not automatically send SMS. Check local privacy arrangements and the work-site date/time when travelling; no universal consent or time-zone conversion is implied.

Business settings in United Kingdom
- Set your business country in Business settings before entering customer addresses or preparing documents. The country selected on the public website does not change an existing business.
- Check the business currency (GBP), time zone and document tax settings. Only enable tax collection if your business is registered and the settings match your requirements. Your customer invoice tax settings are separate from tax on your AllQuote subscription.
- Screenshots use demonstration records. Their sample currency, addresses and tax amounts do not override your business settings.
