Business details, tax and numbering

Sets the active business identity, branding, tax defaults and document numbering with their different effects on existing work.

Use this guide for business details.

Before you start

Availability: Plan and role requirements vary. Enabled business features, role permissions, connected providers and supported devices may add requirements.

Documented roles: Owner, Office. A role name alone does not override the permissions set by your business.

Where to find it: Settings > Business settings > Business.

Prepare the intended business identity, branding and tax/numbering changes. Read the on-screen impact before saving.

Using this guide in Canada

  • Choose your business country when creating a new account. For an existing business, check the country in Business settings before entering addresses or preparing documents. Some country changes are unavailable for existing businesses, even when new accounts can sign up in that country. Changing the public website region does not change your business settings.
  • Check the business currency (CAD), time zone and document tax settings. Only enable tax collection if your business is registered and the settings match your requirements. Your customer invoice tax settings are separate from tax on your AllQuote subscription.
  • Screenshots use demonstration records. Their sample currency, addresses and tax amounts do not override your business settings.

Step by step

  1. Open Settings > Business settings > Business and check the business name before editing its identity, contact or branding details.
  2. Review the displayed tax-change impact before changing registration, tax rate or label. Drafts and unaccepted quotes, including sent quotes, can follow the changed settings.
  3. Issued invoices and quotes accepted with saved tax snapshots keep those snapshots; older records without snapshots can follow current settings. The tax-inclusive default applies to newly created quotes.
  4. For Numbering, review the prefix, digits and next-number preview for jobs, quotes and invoices. Save, reopen the settings and inspect a new document before relying on the change.

Worked example

Change a fictional business numbering prefix, inspect its next-number preview and verify a newly created draft.

This is an illustrative scenario. Use your own approved scope, quantities, rates and business rules.

Check the result

Reopen the original saved result, compare the intended business and key values, and read any refusal before repeating an action.

Limits and troubleshooting

Changing default tax can affect unaccepted work. Review snapshots and the stated impact; it is not a silent correction of earlier issued records.
